Rabat is the capital of Morocco and although it is not a top tourist destination, the city has plenty to offer and should be on your bucket list for Morocco. When Morocco gained independence from France in 1956, the Moroccan King chose to base the government here. Today it is the country’s seventh largest city and has a population of approximately 1.2 million including the surrounding area. Today the King still lives in the area and while it is more of a town for businessmen and students, there are plenty of things to see and explore here.
